Since 2022, Cristina Dondi has been teaching a course in the History of the Book for the University of Rome La Sapienza, part of a Global Humanities BA course, in English. Students come from around the world: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Bangladesh, China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Turkey, Guinea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Perù, Canada, New Zealand, as well as Italians, and Erasmus students from Europe.
The course contextualizes the European printing revolution with sessions on the introduction of printing around the world and in non-Latin alphabets.
Every year, a number of trips are also organized to offer hands-on experiences: at the Tipoteca Italiana in Cornuda, the libraries of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, Correr Museum in Venice, and Fondazione Fedrigoni Fabriano. Blogs and videos are prepared by the students.
